A personal choice based on your specific circumstances and how you intend to use the sauna. Both allow pouring water on the rocks.
Wood fired stoves - the more romantic and traditional choice. It is also the perfect set-up for off-grid saunas.
Electric heaters - the more convenient option as they have the ability to be controlled via an app and set-timers.
This depends on a few things; mainly the sauna design, sauna size and the heater choice. It can be between 45 mins to 90 minutes
Our saunas are built to last and we would expect, if well maintained, the saunas to still be going strong in 10 years. Longevity depends heavily on where the sauna is located (i.e coastal, woodland, garden etc.) and how it is maintained.
Sauna maintenance is fairly minimal. We recommend cleaning the sauna with warm soapy (i.e eco dish soap) water and a microfiber cloth and baking the sauna dry after each session (heat for around 30 mins). Depending on use, we would recommend re-oiling the sauna timber and changing the rocks in the stove each year (review every 6 months in commercial) along with a chimney sweep (for wood fired stoves only).
